Breakfast of champions

Everyone has heard the old adage, "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day," and it is true.  A good breakfast is essential to weight loss and performance.  Studies have shown that people who regularly skip breakfast weigh more than those who regularly eat breakfast.

So, what makes a good breakfast?  Simply put, eat a healthy mix of carbs, proteins, and fats.  Eggs scrambled with spinach, onions, and peppers with an orange or with a glass or fresh-squeezed orange juice gives a nice blend.  You could have a glass of low-fat milk if you drink dairy.  There is enough fiber in the breakfast that you will stay full for the 3 hours before lunch. Rule of thumb:  eat vegetables at every meal.

Foods to avoid:  1) bagels, pancakes, and cereals.  These foods will burn quickly through your system leaving you hungry an hour after eating.  2)  greasy meats.  These foods will weigh heavy on your stomach and are chock full of empty calories.

Experiment with breakfast and think outside the box.  If you eat grains, look for foods with whole grains.  If you are trying to lose weight, keep away from cheeses and grease in your breakfast.  However, always eat your breakfast.  Please read the article below for more information on breakfast and some suggestions for healthy meals.
